So we've got a server set to backup to a removable USB drive. We want to be able to use 2 drives in rotation, switching on Friday - thusly:
Drive 1 (currently offsite): Full backup, incrementals every 120 minutes (during business hours), all images from last week
Drive 2 (currently onsite): Full backup performed last Friday, incrementals every 120 minutes (during business hours) since then.

Hello,
I have been working on an alternative to ImageReady as although the concept of the application is good, it bombs out when managing more than 7-9 folders, the scripting capabilities and weak, and the notifications seem buggy.
Essentially the script is written in PowerShell and performs the following:
I'm about to install ShadowProtect v5 onto a new Windows Server 2012R2 Essentials machine with 16GB ram and 3 x 1TB hdd's (small office scenario).
The sp_Preinstall Check identified three issues, but the Issue Articles it refers to havent been updated in years, so I was wondering if the advice they give is still relevant to SPv5 and 2012R2 OS's? Specifically:-
Most of our servers are VMWare VMs, and we have an HP 3Par for our storage. I'm just in the process of setting up ShadowProtect, and I just wanted some advice or opinions.
Im having issues with SP 5.1.5 with the error above.

Recently, I update MS SQL server to 2014. I noticed sql crash dum created every time backup ran.
Opended a ticket with Support. Found that SQLServerWriter are in error state. I restart the service, SQLServerWriter are now in good state.
Backup started and make that VSS error right after.
Support said this is environmental issue and can't help me.
Any thought on this?
Just read this in the latest release notes:
Urgh, OK I can't paste into this forum?
Anyway ver 5.2.2 seems to support Windows Deduplication - has anyone tested that?
I am preparing for a project to replace BackupExec with Storagecraft on about 17 servers, and was wondering if BackupExec is one of the peices of software that I will need to reboot after uninstalling prior to installing Storagecraft. With AppAssure I can uninstall the AA client and install SC and only have one reboot per server to get backups running, however with Acronis I need to reboot after uninstalling Acronis or the system will BSOD on boot after installing SC. Does anybody have any input on this?
New ShadowProtect user here. We had ShadowProtect installed in late October and I did a few backup verifications here and there and was able to restore a file. I have not done any checks since before Thanksgiving (I know, shame on me). Yesterday I decided to get back on schedule and start checking our backups and found the following when I used the Explore Backup wizard and selected the image file to browse: One or more required image files are not found. Please, select directory to continue searching or press cancel. What am I missing here?
Hello All
As per the following article by checking use VSS option should ignore the settings on the upper part of the window , which is VSS incremental backups.
Is it possible to resume backups where they left off (when using Continuous Incremental) if you have to restore a machine from backups? The couple of times I've restored a machine from backup now and went to resume backups, I've either had to recreate a new Full Backup , or it does it itself when it runs the next incremental. Is there a way to pick up where it left off? Small servers are no big deal - but big ones are when you take into consideration the replication off-site at that stage.
I left an open restore on a system (because it has a lot of base data and I am not familiar enough with HSR yet), because I am going to do a couple of follow up restorals (incremental restore) to bring it to current to bring it up in another location. My question is pretty easy - if I have the every restored (open), and it does three more backups - do I have to restore each one to be current, or just the most current one and it will apply the others, as it does in the original restore - where I see it list all the files it applied?
SP Server Version - 5.2.2.37250
OS - Windows 2012R2 Server
Using IIS 6.0 SMTP Relay to Office 365 - Works with Txt and other products emails. (On same server as SP)
No matter what setting is in SP Agent Option Email, the setting for the port keeps changing back to port 35476. We use port 587 for all internal relay.
Please advise.
Hi there. Subject pretty much sums it up. We have shadowprotect installed on a few servers and seems to be working fine except for this one server which is a Windows 2008 server.
Backups were set up on it about a month ago which continuous incrementals set to run once a day and with the VSS option ticked. It has about 140gb of disks pace that's used and there is probably about a gigabyte of files that get added to it daily (roughly, I guess) and runs SQL server. Defrag runs once a week on a Saturday.
Hello,
We have a problem on a Windows 2012 R2 running as Terminal Service (RDS).
We are running continuous incrementals
When Windows Serarch is enabled large incrementals are produced, even when there are no users logged onto the system such as over a weekend.
StorageCraft indicate that they only be backup blocks.
So I wonder why Windows Search is updating blockes when there and no new files to index or are being changed.
I am having a problem setting up notifications on three servers. All in the same location.
Here is the back story.
I used to use backup Exec and have removed that product and installed Shadowprotect server edition. The only VSS writers that I see when doing vssadmin list providers is Microsoft and ShadoiwProtect.
Are any of these items an issue. Unclear is STC is making a correct snapshot and also how to resolve the VDIFF error
Will Shadowprotect backup Microsoft Bit Locker Encrypted Hard Drives? Or what is the process to do so?
