Currently using Shadowprotect 5.0.3.26070 on all servers being backed up to another server (with USB drive attached as a share). All servers a mix of windows 2003 and 2008 backup etc.. no worries except one windows 2003 box (64bit hyper v 2012 guest)....
Everytime backup fails with the error (NOTE have tried both ip and unc name in destitation)
I hove found some scripts that allow me to query backup status through windows scripting. I am trying to see if I can get the last run date and time for a job, but more to the point would love to know if there is any documentation outlining the methods and propoerties available.

If anyone knows if there is a scripting option and reference for imagemanager that would also be brillient

Recieve this error on a HyperV2008 server after doing the KB article on server performance/recommendations. I am able to browse to the data and have run a chkdsk without receiving any error.
ShadowProtect Server v4. Full backups every Sunday, two incremental backups Monday - Friday.
A client server is having some issues and I copied the latest full backup files (.spf) and brought them to my office to restore on a test computer to troubleshoot the server.
When I restored any of the spf files, the restore failed immediately with the error message, "Cannot restore non-baseline image alone." My understanding is that the spf file is the baseline file.
(I copied an spf file from my office server and it restored fine on the test server.)

I was reading the Best Practice manual on how to back up Hyper-V VMs. As it say in the manual, it's recommended to creat 3 partitions, one for system, one for more static VMs, and one for more dynamic VMs.

I have a Synology NAS that has a share mapped to a windows server. Can I use Shadow Protect running on the server to make a backup of the share?
Does Storage Craft have a repair/uninstall msi or exe?

i´m running backup of different servers to internal drive and additional to external drive of another server.
The backup only backed up 56GB of data and did not backup the free space. I went from doing my hard drives in an LSI controller which uses less space to make the partitions, to an Intel controller which uses more space. Either way there is over 200GB of free space to use. However the restore environment will not let me restore this image saying there is not enough space on the hard drive to restore it.
We are talking about maybe a 10GB difference.
Is there some way around this?

I was wondering if there was a way to just install the image tools; Mount, explore, verify. On a server that is not licensed for shadow protect.
I backup to a network share. And would like to work with the files locally and have image ready run on the local server as well. I am licensed for these products just wish to move them to another server.
Any advice would be great

i am trying to get my head around what would be causing large incremental files on a couple of different servers i have running Kaspersky AV for WSEE
both machines are running SBS2011
the reason i think it is kaspersky is because on one of the SBS2011 boxes i have suspended the antivirus on which has thus reduced my incrementals...
has anyone run across this before?
any help would be much appreciated

I have just completed a migration using a temporary virtual host (VMware ESXi 5.1). Now it is time to back up the finished Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server and restore it to its permanent home on another ESXi host. The other ESXi host is the same version and build, and the VM settings (VM version, disk type, etc) are the same. There are no virtual machine snapshots involved.
However, when I do this, I get some unexpected results.

I've got one hyper v server that had a fixed drive space. I've just increased the drive space and was wonder what if anything needs to be done with ShadowProtect. I know you recommend reinstallation for new OS but does anything need to be done for this?

We have a SBS 2003 server which is being backed up by ShadowProtect version 4.
Day before yesterday scheduled backup failed with the following error code on the C drive.
504 Fatal failure of free space exclusion (-87 The parameter is incorrect.)
Based on the ShadowProtect KB s this is normally caused by disk related issues and recommends to run chkdsk with /f parameter.
We have not done any changes to the application or the backup schedule but yesterdays scheduled backup completed without any issues or errors

We have several services which are backed up by ShadowProtect.
Unfortunately backup jobs are created with just one job for all volumes/partitions. These jobs were not created by us and we do not want to create a new base image by modifying the backup jobs
Due to lack of disk space (especially when a full backup kicks in) one volume gets backed up but not the other.
Is there any method to start a full backup for the failed volume only?

does anyone know how to change the date display format in the ShadowProtect console eg 24/05/13 instead of 05/24/13?
I am running an older version (3.5.2) with two servers. I previously ran this edition on an old sbs2003 and server 2K. I know that the NTFS permissions are copied from the original source so I shouldn't be allowed access after mounting the image if they don't match. I used to be able to log on to the backup server as a domain admin and it would recognize the domain admin and I could mount any image in read only and explore down to any file level. Would only work that way if I was logged in as a domain admin however. Local computer account would restrict. Fair enough.
