very large spi file

Hi,

I have a custumer with one File Server with 374Gb (401.653.354.496) used. The *.spf (with standart compression) was 368 Gb (395.763.604.480).

Once a month (the week of the day 20), I have a uge *.spi file about 128Gb (137.725.446.144). This means one uge colapse weekly and one colapse monthly.

Are there a way to list the files included on a particulary *.spi file?

The total used disk space on the server are the same. No one on the custumer firm have any idea from where these changed files came from.

Cannot access VDIFF tracking state/incremental backup takes 2 days

Hi there

One of my clients backup job failed yesterday and I was trying to re-run it, then I noticed the time remaining for a incremental backup is 2 days, but normally it only taks a few minutes.

Job log shows it cannot access VDIFF tracking state so it uses DiffGen to create incremental image. I guess this is why it takes days (data is about 7TB). I have already logged a Case, number 00179983.

Continuous incremental job stops automatically triggering until agent is connected

We have an issue with a Server 2003 machine where the continuous incremental job stops automatically triggering. It start triggering again once we connect to the agent using a ShadowProtect console on another server (you can see the time gap in the ShadowProtect logs). It then runs fine for a few months and then happnes again. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

server backup error message

one by one my VM server backup is getting the following error message.

manual submitting the job, the backup will run without issues.

what could be the issue here?

is it my storage?

What's the advantage of the SPV over normal SP? Does it improve/speed up recovery of vms? Does it make a difference if used with HSR?

Backup jobs suddenly started failing -- sbfile 404 Cannot open file

Out of the blue, our backups started failing with the error listed in the subject. Here are the logs:

Shadowprotect not recognizing incremental backups

I recently replaced the drives in a server and started a continuous backup set after the upgrade. I first did a manual backup of the C and D drives for the initial full backup. I then set up a scheduled to do 15 minute continuous incrementals. It's been running as expected with all of the proper files being created in the destination folder. However Shadowprotect is only seeing the initial full backup point in time restore point when doing a Restore or verify Image operation. Why would Shadowprotect not link the .spi files with .spf?

Using a backup of an index to search a quick-mounted volume

We use the indexing service on Server 2012 to maintain an index of large amounts of data. Let us refer to this as the servers X partition. We have the OS store the index on the same partition (X) so that whenever an incremental happens, it also grabs the index, in whatever state it is in, at the same time it grabs all of the data.

Restoring SBS2008 64bit

Hello, I hope someone can help me....I have been struggling now for over a week with this.

I am trying to restore a ShadowProtectBackup into Server 2012 Hyperv of SBS2008.

It takes about 8 hours to restore and when it finally finishes it on gets to a blank screen with a blinking cursor on trying to boot.

I read on the ShadowProtect forum to then insert the installation CD and enter Widows Recovery.....however, I get this :

Could not get VirtualBoot to work for Shadowprotect 5.0.4 and Virtualbox 4.2.32

Hi I install Shadowprotect v.5.0.4 and backup my C drive( Window Server 2012 R2 64bit). I tried to test the backup by using Virtualboot with

Virtualbox 4.2.32. It was not working. The error message said 'Fetal could not read from the boot medium! System halted'.

I checked that the VirtualBoot support VirtualBox(R) 3.1.0 through 3.2.12, and 4.0.2 through 4.2.4. It seems like the virtual hard disl is not created.

 

Please advised.

Doing Incremental Backups from an old base file

Hi There,

I am very new to ShadowProtect and I have mucked up our backups. I have accidentally triggered a Full Backup on a backup job (after misunderstanding some logs), now it has created a new base file and incremental backups are done from that base file. I want to know if I can go back to using the old base file for the incremental backups as we cannot afford to replicate this huge new base file over the Internet.

Can ImageManager 5.x be used to managed folder containing ShadowProtect 4.x images?

I have a client that is still using ShadowProtect 4.x. Do I need to continue using ImageManager 4.x to manage those folders, or can I install ImageManager 5.x to manage these ShadowProtect 4.x folders?

ImageReady cannot connect

Hi All,

         Please pardon me (couldnt see any search function on forum, and there is no topic for ImageReady alone).

          I've added the firewall ports on the windows firewall itself port 20247 and added the program to allow itself. Imagemanager is on the same folder including backup data.

Still getting connect failures

Any advice ?

Virtualboot only creating XSP file

For some reason one of my testing machines has decided not to boot from VirtualBoot. It creates an XSP file and then exits.  I've verified VirtualBox has no VM's created before starting and haven't updated anything on it.  Anybody know what causes this and how to fix it?

Lossless Exchange recovery using ShadowProtect (NOT GRE)

In my experience, the image-based backup system that StorageCraft uses is very powerful, but I have beeen unable to find a way to recover an Exchange database without losing data.  Microsoft Exchange supports "lossless recovery" of a corrupt Exchange database with the use of log files that are "replayed" after a database has been recovered.  there is typically a period of time between the moment the database goes offline, and when tech support recovers it from backup--typically overnight.  If I just recover the databases directory, I am backup up and running, but any emails o
